Corporate Responsibility and Corporate Communications

30 Oct

The definition of the two terms Corporate Responsibility and Corporate Communications seem to blur. Basically, Corporate Responsibility is what corporations owe to their consumers, stakeholders, etc. Consumers and stakeholders deserve transparency from corporations because that is the best way for consumers to build trust for the corporation. On the other hand, Corporate Communications is the actual transparency. A corporate communications department would be responsible for operating the company’s social media sites, sending news releases, etc., in order to get information out about current events within the company.

The way that I distinct the two terms is by the following statement:

It is the company’s Corporate Responsibility to communicate with their publics. Therefore, Corporate Communications can fall under the Corporate Responsibility umbrella.
