Comment on My Blog. Please?

31 Jan

So what’s so important about the comments at the end of my blog post? Do people’s opinions really affect me at all? Here are some reasons why comments are so important in the “blogosphere.”

  • Comments show you that you actually have readers! Without responses to your posts, you may feel like no one really cares about what you’re writing. By receiving responses, you don’t only feel like people care about what you have written but you also feel encouraged to continue to post.
  • Comments help you cater to your audiences. By reading your comments, you can see what people are interested in reading and what they would like to see more posts about. Readers can also add their knowledge or expertise to your posts and mention some things that you might have accidentally left out.
  • Blog comments create community. They are a great way to meet people who share the same interest as you (those who comment on the same threads). Maybe people will like your blog so much that they will not only comment on your posts but also tell their friends about your blog and, if they are nice enough, they might even post on their website and kindly link back to your blog!

It’s slightly ironic that I’m commenting on a post about blog comments, but nevertheless I completely agree with your statements. It’s always great to receive comments on our thoughts and feelings (even if we are required to comment for our grade). Commenting is also a good way to connect with people, like you said. Although it’s not as productive, if you will, as compared to Facebook as it pertains to connecting through comments, it does provide other insight and perspective than just your own. So here is a question for you: If someone’s comment persuaded you into a different form of thinking, would you then be affected and, therefore, change your perspective?
